The Sea Ranch the morning before she
leaves the marina for the shipyard
Upon arrival at the shipyard, lifting slings are
slid underneath the Sea Ranch to two
carefully situated points
The lifting slings are attached to a large crane.
The Sea Ranch is held off the dock as she is
starting to be lifted up
.
Swinging through the air! It's estimated that the
Sea Ranch weighs 45,000 pounds.
She is lowered onto a trailer, the slings are
removed, and she is moved a short distance.
The trailer's hydraulics's lift her  so that blocks
can be put underneath. The photo shows her
completely blocked and the trailer driving away.
The worst area was the transom under the rub
rail. The dark gray is old body putty showing
through.
On numerous areas, the paint was weathered
through to the red primer. Not bad for the
original paint job after 40 years...
Prep work to the transom and rub rail - sanding
and grinding body putty and paint down to bare
metal.
After sanding, griding, and fairing, primer is
applied.
Sand, grind, fair, repeat.
First layer of white paint is on.
The bottom is sanded.
Fruits of our labor are finally being seen...
Body work and white paint is done.

better...
